Hiya! It’s “Music, Art & Culture” Monday, the day of the week in which I profile a Musician/Artist/Writer/”Cultural Thingamabopper” here in Israel. (Just as a side note, remember that I am looking for people to profile so if you are an artist in Israel or know someone who is, please contact me!)
Today’s video presents the poetry and photography of my friend Joseph Neudorfer AKA Yossi. Yossi is originally from Montreal, Canada but he now lives in Tel Aviv, Israel. His poem is called “In Circles of Lust and אהבה Irony”. The photographs of flowers in the video are taken by Yossi as well. Enjoy!!
In Circles of Lust and אהבה Irony
Your neck was bent to hug your phone from כתף לאוזן in a secret שיחה
And oh how I wanted to be that cellphone !
That first illustrious moment I laid eyes on you in the מסדרון to our בניון
I too was bent from כתף לאוזן, with a chikita bonita, on the phone:
She was a Love from the past, and she showered me with praise
But she could not meet my gaze
And when I thought of you,
I forgot of her, and it was good,
וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים, כִּי-טוב
She was a Love from the past,
and she showered me with praise, (like you do now)
but she could not meet my gaze, (like you do now)
In circles of lust and אהבה irony
I wish you Happiness
Wherever you may grab of it fruits
And with whomever you may enjoy of its nectar
May you be far from Fear,
May you fight Fear forever,
And may you not fall to Fear’s faults
Wherever you may grab of it fruits
And with whomever you may enjoy of its nectar
על הפנים
וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים, כִּי-טוב
In circles of lust and אהבה irony
May compromise, that ill-fated of diseases, never follow you
May these words find you in health and may you smile with thoughts
of a few beautifully confusing moments
Brief, anxious trains cross in the silence of the night
* Hebrew words within the text are translated in the subtitles of the video
Come back tomorrow for Toilet Humor Tuesday!!

This is amazing and beautiful and I don’t have better words for it than that and that’s why you’re the poet and I’m the filmmaker. Say cheese! Click!
